The most popular time is May through October, with warm days perfect for vineyard visits. Spring (April–May) offers barrel tastings and new releases. Summer (June–August) brings long days and outdoor gatherings. Fall (September–October) is harvest season — the most exciting time in wine country. Winter is quieter but many tasting rooms stay open and offer intimate experiences.

We recommend 2–3 days minimum. This gives you time to visit 8–12 wineries at a comfortable pace, enjoy the local restaurants, and soak in the town's charm. A long weekend (3–4 days) is ideal.

It depends on the winery. Downtown tasting rooms are generally walk-in friendly. Estate wineries outside town (Southside, Eastside) often require or strongly recommend reservations, especially on weekends and during busy season (May–October). A shared wine tour lets individuals, couples, or small groups join a guided group tour at an affordable per-person price. You'll travel in a luxury Sprinter van with fellow wine lovers, visiting a curated set of wineries with reserved tastings. Winery tasting fees vary by stop and may be waived with a qualifying wine purchase.

Current shared-tour pricing is shown on each published tour date. Private and custom tours are priced around your date, group size, route, service level, and any planned add-ons, so contact us for a quote instead of relying on a generic estimate.

Tours include professional transportation through our licensed preferred transportation partner, route planning, winery coordination, a local host or guide, and Walla Walla lodging pickup where available. Tasting fees vary by winery and may be waived with a qualifying wine purchase. Lunch can be added to shared tours and planned into private tours.

Shared tours range in size depending on who books each date. We have spacious vehicles ready if a larger group assembles.

If a tour is below the minimum needed to run, we'll contact booked guests with options for that date. In some cases, that may include a buy-up offer so the tour can still operate with a smaller group, moving to another shared date, converting to a private tour, or receiving a refund if we cannot operate the departure.

Yes. Walla Walla Travel plans wine-and-golf days — a morning round of golf followed by afternoon winery visits, with lunch and dinner built into the schedule. Licensed door-to-door transportation is provided by our partner NW Touring & Concierge, so your group and their clubs travel together and nobody drives after tastings. We're happy to hear requests, but specific stops are not guaranteed. For private tours, tell us your must-visit list and we'll build the day around it whenever possible.

The Rocks District of Milton-Freewater is a unique AVA defined by its distinctive cobblestone soils — dark basalt rocks deposited by ancient Ice Age floods. These rocks store heat during the day and release it at night, producing bold, concentrated wines, particularly world-class Syrah.

In downtown Walla Walla, yes — many tasting rooms are within walking distance. For the Southside, Westside, Eastside, and Rocks District, you'll need transportation. That's where our tours come in.

Walla Walla is served by Alaska Airlines with daily flights from Seattle (40 minutes). By car, it's about 4.5 hours from Seattle, 4 hours from Portland, 2.5 hours from Spokane, and 4 hours from Boise.

Downtown is very walkable, but wineries outside the downtown core require transportation. Tastings are best enjoyed with a designated non-tasting driver, or better yet, on a private or shared tour with us so everyone can participate while we handle timing, routes, and reservations. Local ride services may also be useful for simple point-to-point transportation.

Downtown is the most convenient base — walkable to many tasting rooms and excellent restaurants. The Marcus Whitman Hotel is the landmark property. There are also charming B&Bs, vacation rentals, and boutique inns throughout town. We're building a curated lodging directory — check back soon.

Walla Walla is renowned for Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Malbec. The region is especially strong with bold red wines because of warm days, cool nights, and varied soils that include volcanic basalt, wind-deposited loess, and Ice Age flood sediments. You'll also find excellent Chardonnay, Viognier, and Riesling.
